What is Auriculotherapy?

Traditional Chinese medicine has used auricular therapy for more than 2,000 years to treat various diseases. However, it was not until the 1950s that a French doctor named Paul Nogier (1908-1996) created a detailed map of the pinna (ear).

This map establishes a close relationship between some specific points on the ear with the organs and tissues of the human body. This is known as a microsystem, and it implies that a part of the body (in this case, the ear) reflects the rest of our entire organism.

For this reason, auriculotherapy is used both to detect and to treat various ailments, since by stimulating an auricular point it indicates which part of the body is affected, and by continuing with pressure on that point, we can achieve an improvement in symptoms.
In recent years, auriculotherapy has gained great importance. For this reason, various research centers have carried out different scientific studies to explain how it works, and even the World Health Organization has endorsed it as one of the alternative therapies for health care.
